New Officers take over their American Legion Post 347 positions July 1st, 2017. 

 http://www.florida-legion.com/Al.JPGCommander, Al Varrone, the previous Post 1st Vice Commander, is taking over the reigns from Tim Tierney who has been serving as Post commander 3 of the last 4 years.  Commander Varrone stated that he was honored to serve the Veterans of Post 347,"The Largest Post in the World". Post 347 has over 6000 members.

Commander Varrone said that running a Post this large will be a learning experience that he is excited to begin.  He also stated that he was very appreciative of all the assistance Commander Tierney has provided to get him ready to take on this position.  Our Post is run by Veterans who are willing to volunteer their time and efforts to make sure we have one of the best Post in Florida.

 

 

The Post was well represented at the 19th Annual Sumter County Sheriff's Golf Tournament, Saturday at Tierra Del Sol golf course in The Villages. Commander Tim Tierney, Adjunct Mike Siedel, Member at Large Ron Monat, Historian Mike Horn are all pictured with Sheriff Bill Farmer.

Attention all Post Members:

Post 347 Officers Elections will be conducted on Wednesday May 10th 

   from 1100 to 1300 and then at the meeting Wednesday night.

 

The following individuals have been approved:

Commander:  Al Varrone

1st Vice Commander:  Ellen Tierny

2nd Vice Commander:  T.C. Biddle

3rd Vice Commander:  Bill Behn

Chaplain:  Joerg Wartenberg

Finance Officer:  Ken DeMello

Sgt-at-Arms: George Zablocki

Historian:  Mike Horn

Members at Large:  Ron Monat; John Gibbons; Stephen L. Corillo;

Guy Knaak; Danny L. Adams Jr.: Lyle Koch.

Members in good standing with current dues are allowed to vote between 1100 and 1300 and at the Post Meeting on May 10th.

Thanks to Robert Sleighter and Bill Nee for the great job of running the nomination committee.

 

Your Post needs you! We will train legionnaires for Honor Guard, Bingo, office work, and general maintenance. Call the Post NOW and get involved.

 

Saturday Night at the Races was the highlights for the weekend at Post 347. Over 190 tickets sold for the event.  Great time was had by all who came out.

Post Staff were on hand to provide beverages for all the Race Attendees.  Julie, Edna, JC and Ellen. 
 
 
Also Saturday Night Trivia was going on in the Lounge.  Knowledge around the room. 

 

 

 

Next Post Meeting is May 10, 2017 5:30 PM to 8 PM.  Come early to network with our Legionnaires.

 

CRUISE for 7 nights to the Eastern Caribbean from Dec 2nd to Dec 9th 2017 on Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas. (Stops at Philipsburg St. Martin, San Juan Puerto Rico and Ladadee Haiti).  This is a Post Fundraiser based on number of rooms sold.  Included with cruise is all taxes, fees, and shuttle service to Cruise Port (with parking at Post for entire time).  Bus will pick us up and return us to Post at end of Cruise.  In addition package will include a Cocktail Party and $75.00 onboard credit.  Various rooms are still available.  Cruise registration handled through Yankee Trails Travel at Sabal Plaza on CR 466.
